Happy New Year

Hello dear backpacking friends. Its that time again, this little blogs birthday and time for the ol' New Years Resolutions.

Are you sitting tight?

Then I shall begin....

1. Work Smarter Not Harder.
This one was my horoscope a few months ago and what good advice it is. And only this morning I heard someone on the radio say "volume isnt the key, we say people work hard if they stay late at the office but in truth they might be sitting there doing nothing". How right that man was. I often work late, and I really am working, but in truth its so counter productive. I end up poorly and run down, I neglect myself and my hobbies. And then I have to spend weeks getting better, barely achieving any work at all. So this year no late nights, no writing reports nobody asked for. Just doing a good job 9-5 and getting some proper teas and early nights.
This also applies to how I do my housework, how I train for triathlons, even the items I purchase, right down to the food I put in my mouth. Smarter choices all round please. If its not getting me to a better place Im not doing it.

2. Scale Paper Mountain
I am always drowning in paper. But now I have two shiny filing cabinets so Im spending this week sorting, organising and shredding it all down to just what needs to be kept. Then Im going to go paperless wherever I can (banks, energy companies, email me please) and keep my papers organised from now on.

3. Spending Log
In an effort to shock myself I am this year writing a list of every penny I spend. Just to track exactly what money I waste. Looking forward to seeing if all my spending is justified and where I can make small changes that will add up to big bucks.


Thats it, just a whole load of organisation to satisfy my OCD's. Cant wait to start seeing some results.
